The Drumheller Valley is best known for its diverse
and beautiful topography. Made up of badlands, hoodoos, canyons and
coulees, the area provides vast terrains of discovery. Be sure to
visit the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, a world-class facility
dedicated to the study of dinosaurs.
More than this, the Badlands are an important part of
the mythology of Alberta. They provided protection from the elements
for generations of plains aboriginal people as well as gangs of outlaws-horse
thieves who avoided authorities in the seemingly endless gullies and
canyons. |
